Welcome to Mental Fitness Coaching

Recovery from injury usually takes the form of physical therapy to build back flexibility and muscles. Similar to building muscles after surgery, I help clients build their mental resilience muscles in conjunction with the client’s traditional therapies. Mental fitness can be defined as having and maintaining a state of well-being and cultivating awareness of how we think, behave and feel. Just as physical fitness provides us with an increased ability to respond to life in all its richness, mental fitness helps in the same way.
Your mental fitness is your ability to  respond to life’s challenges with a positive rather than a negative mindset. Easier said than done when faced with an injury. But it makes the difference in how quickly you will be back to doing the activities you love.

Testimonials

I love to work with individuals who seek to live their lives fully but have hit an obstacle with their health.  There are many emotions we encounter when we are hurt and cannot live in the manner we are used to. Check out Darren and Emma's stories. If these resonate with you please contact me for a complimentary chat.

I found stress relief and enjoyment  through golf and running while I was employed. Upon retirement  I was able to enjoy my favorite activities even more. Unfortunately my body could not keep pace and I was faced with the prospect of  a knee replacement. I had been enjoying the physical activity and the new friends and I realized by working with Alisia that I was developing my new identity post a career. The prospect of being side lined from my favorite activities and  new friends had me spiraling into a negative head space and even questioning my decision to retire.   I was short tempered with those whom I love and feeling a bit helpless.  By working with Alisia I learned tools to shift my mindset and we created a plan to coincide with my physical therapy. She was always a phone call and text away.

I am a mom and I love to be active with friends and my kids. When I tore my hamstring my doctor told me I was in for a long recovery. There was so much I could not do initially and this effected my self esteem and my relationships. I couldn't do the activities I used to do with my kids or even around the house. I was angry and sad. By working with Alisia I was able to better understand that there were other feelings I was experiencing; helpless, frustrated and worthless. I learned that I judged myself for not being a good Mom. I developed compassion for myself and I learned how to ask for help. I loved the 8 week virtual program. It helped me identify how I sabotage myself and gave me tools to shift my negative perspective quickly.
